Although beaches are hardly a novelty on the central coast of California, Huntington Beach has distinguished itself as the state's premier surfing contest location and is aptly nicknamed Surf City USA®. Rock and roll giants Jan and Dean recorded the song Surf City in 1963, helping to increase interest in the area.
